The Artist

Ed French is a former Disney artist, who has brought his enormous talent to depict extraordinary moments in American history, through the eyes of Zebulon Pike.

The Setting

Pike and his lads (as he referred to them) are pictured traveling down Trout Creek southwest into the Arkansas River Valley from South Park, Colorado.

Pike would take three men with him north from Buena Vista to Leadville Colorado on the east side above river to map and explore the headwaters. The others traveled slowly south to explore and hunt for provisions.

Can you image what they saw? The Collegiate Range with its six 14,000 foot snow covered mountains.
