Zebulon M. Pike Expedition Bicentennial Highlights!

Communities all along Pike’s route, drawn to the saga of Pike’s adventures that literally unfolded in their own back yards, and aware that their communities were a direct result of the historical processes brought on in the wake of Pike’s endeavor, have likewise embraced the bicentennial as their own.

July 15 Pike Commemoration on the Pueblo Riverwalk

10:00a.m. – Parade featuring Grand Marshalls from the Pike Family Association, reenactment corps, Fort Carson soldiers, Spanish Lancers and the Westernaires. Parade route will start at the intersection of “B” Street and Union Avenue, continue down Union Avenue to Grand Avenue and then turn southeast towards Pike’s Plaza on the Riverwalk.

11:30a.m. – Operation Tribute to Freedom featuring the re-dedication of the Daughters of the American Revolution memorial at Pike’s Plaza.

12:30p.m. – Authentic chuckwagon dinner barbeque ribs, corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, a baked potato and a dessert cobbler for only $15.00 per person! Each ticket sold includes a $5.00 donation that will help to build Veterans’ Bridge at Gateway Park on Pueblo’s Riverwalk. Tickets available in advance by calling (719) 295-7203.

Entertainment provided by Rex Rideout and Mark Gardner ~ musical performers of the Frontier Past. Reenactment camps will open.

2:00p.m. – Mark Gardner book signing.

3:00p.m. – Mariachi group to perform at the Xcel Energy Outdoor Stage.

7:00p.m. – Community concert featuring the Pueblo Municipal Band at the Xcel Energy Outdoor Stage.
