The Alpine Orchestra, a community orchestra with members from the Upper Arkansas Valley and surrounding communities, combine talents with the Zebulon Pike Ensemble trio for a celebration of Pike’s journey and the opening of the American West. The concerts feature Tom Munch, Don Richmond, and Rex Rideout performing their acoustic instrumental renditions of songs that express the emotions and adventures Pike’s expedition experienced. The music is enhanced through the use of slides. Then the Alpine Orchestra, directed by Dr. Farrell Coy, performs works of Copeland and other traditional western tunes. Finally, the two groups combine for a set of early 19th century American music.

The concerts are free with donations gratefully accepted. The Zebulon Pike Ensemble will offer their CD for sale.
